The Other Side (Chapter 24)

In this chapter, Jurgis gets to see what the wealthy live like. Freddie has a massive wad of cash on him. Jurgis thinks about stealing it, but decides not to. Freddie hands Jurgis $100 and they go to Freddie's house. The Butler doesn't like Jurgis, and as soon as Freddie falls asleep, kicks Jurgis out.

    Jurgis got food, shelter, and money for doing absolutely nothing. He was very lucky to be in the right place at the right time. I like how you said the butler kicked him out since that is not only a common phrase for saying he made him leave, but Hamilton literally kicked Jurgis while he was walking out of the house.
